OK, I've been wearing Brooks Adrenalines for years, had GTS 11, 12, 13, 14... read a review of the fifteen which said the toe box had gotten narrower so last year bought a discontinued pair of 14's just in case. This year I finally broke out the unworn (and incidentally hideous, bright pink) 14's to wear, and figured I'd better try some new ones, so I ordered a pair of GTS 16's and a pair of GTS 17's. The 16's were horrible-- absolutely unwearable, due to being slightly shorter and the toe box being narrower to the point where it hurt to wear the shoes. Bummed, I just tried these 17's on, and --hooray!-- Brooks has fixed whatever was wrong with the 16's--aside from being a tad shorter, these fit just like my (also new) 14's, AND have a springier heel. I could not be happier and will be buying another pair, though might go up half a size since they are just a little shorter. The important thing is there is enough width in the toe box, like the older incarnations. DO NOT buy the GTS 16's if you've been a fan of previous incarnations of this shoe. Buy these and you will be thrilled. FWIW, I have fallen arches, narrow heels and wide toes, and a very bad back and hips to boot. Though my running days sadly ended in my 20's (genetic disorder, which caused all the above mentioned problems) these are the only shoes in the world I can wear. Thank you Brooks for fixing them!I already own a pair in blue, so I knew the fit was good. Normally I wear a 10 in regular shoes. A shoe store that sells good quality running shoes like these, measured me. I wear an 11 in Brooks, and I am happy with that - and I only walk - don't run. I love this GTS 17 shoe. Feels solid and good arch support. I had plantar fasciitis for three years until I bought my first pair of Brooks. I never spent money on my shoes in my life. HUGE mistake! Once I had plantar fasciitis, I actually ruptured the plantar tendon on one foot. I used a cane for a year. I gained a ton of weight from not being able to walk. I went and got these shoes an had orthotics made. I no longer chintz on my shoes. I pay top dollar, an I'm still walking and working out - 62 years old now. Young women - pay the money and don't hurt your feet!I just got these today and immediately put them on to see if they would alleviate some calf pain and shin splints that had become unbearable in the last week due to hiking for a long period of time last weekend. I’m extremely flat footed and have a connective tissue disorder... EDS. It’s the disorder that contortionists typically have. It makes life challenging because if you are an athlete or exercise strenuously, you are guaranteed to have something dislocate, tear, pull or just give out at some point. I wore the Brooks sneaks all day and I didn’t get tired in my joints, shin splints were barely noticeable. The true test will be exercising tomorrow and seeing how I feel after. I can say with full confidence though that these shoes immediately relieved hip, knee, shin and ankle stress. I like them better than my trusty New Balance 1260’s that I wore completely out and couldn’t find a replacement that I liked until these shoes. I suggest, if you have extremely flat feet to read the research on the top 10 running sneakers for flat fleet. The article rated these shoes as number one and they weren’t lying. Love the shoe.I am loving these shoes so far. They fit well, breathe easily, and have exactly the support my feet need.I have been recovering from two broken bones in one foot, and a small fracture in the other. These are what my orthopedist and podiatrist suggested, and I am thrilled they did. I had honestly never even heard of Brooks before. (Sorry)One thing I am not excited about is the price tag. I got these at a more reasonable price than they normally are, but it was still a bit steep. I have already noticed some pretty significant wear to the soft fabrics, and I can only imagine how fast that will make me need to replace them. Not looking forward to paying that again, so I might be looking for alternatives.Overall, they do exactly what I need, and are very good looking shoes as well. I can’t complain much with them.I have been wearing Brooks to run in for several years now and I really like the GTS 15, 16-17 series. I was SO happy to find this pair of GTS 17's, as every other place was sold out because the new model is being pushed onto customers. (The GTS 18 has gotten horrible reviews and I'm not buying them (thus the rush to find GTS 17's) b/c they've changed the material for the toe box and the soles are different from the previous mode). These are my favorite running shoes. They provide a really good heel cushion and stability. They're a little lighter weight than the GTS 16 model, but, are still a solid shoe. They are true to size and work with light or heavy socks. One thing that's not on this model that's was in previous models is the printed saying in the heel area: "Run Happy" and "Carpe Runnem" I used to enjoy seeing that as I put on my shoes in the mornings.I'm not sure if it's better or worse than the GTS 16 but I seem to run quite fast in these just like I did in the 16s. Beware the shoe is slightly shorter than the GTS16 so if your toe reached closer to the end of that shoe, I would go up half size (I fit well in a 7-medium in both editions of the shoe). I just ran a half marathon in them straight out of the box and had no blisters or pain anywhere (not even from that front plastic stitching around the toes that was a problem in the 15s; the 16s used to blister on my achilles area without tall enough socks- these do not do that) so it's a solid shoe with the fast responsive and supportive ride that the GTS is known for. Highly recommend! We'll see how they hold up! The grey of the shoe is a little sparkly silver - just a note in case you are buying it for a low key shoe - it does shine in the sun. :DI've got flat feet and always struggle with trainers that give me enough support when exercising. Did some research and these had the best reviews for this purpose and now they've arrived and I've worn them a few times to exercise I'm pretty pleased with my purchase. They aren't want you would call subtle but I love the colours scheme. Will be buying these again and definitely recommend especially if you have flat feet!this is my second pair that I ordered. but this time I got the sizing right! first time i read the reviews and I ordered one size and half big which was too big! still it was wonderful. this time I ordered size 6 which is one size bigger than my normal size. fantastic! everyone should have one pair of these trainers. it is soooooo good.Except for the fact that they don't let you choose the width (it comes in standard width, which is quite generous, and my feet are not exactly narrow)- they are quite supportive and comfortable. I used to have ankle pains after 8-9 Km, and that doesn't happen anymore. just needed more support. I also don't need a supportive insole I used to insert to all running shoes. The size I chose was exactly 1 size more than my fancy shoes and it's perfect for long runs, with room for all toes to spread. very happy.I've always loved Brooks but these were terrible. The tread is kind of plasticy on the sole and very slippery. I went out in the rain and had a bad fall as they were so slippery. I almost cracked open my skull. Even in the dry they are not firm on the ground. I haven't been able to wear them. What a waste of almost £100Light feel, lasts well, will continue to buy when the prices are right.
